We had the opportunity to sit down with Laura Cross, IT Project Manager at PureGym Switzerland, to discuss the recent integration of Exerp into their IT infrastructure. This strategic move aimed to align Switzerland’s IT applications with the broader PureGym network, introducing a new membership system powered by Exerp.
The primary objective of the project was to transition Switzerland to centralized IT applications, enabling them to harmonize with PureGym’s global processes and ensuring scalability and adaptability for the future.
As part of the integration, PureGym Switzerland incorporated Exerp’s membership management system, Web Apps, and the Exerp App (myFitApp) into their operations.
Reflecting on the migration, Laura shared, “It was seamless… Being on Exerp will allow PureGym Switzerland to grow and advance their member offering.”
To delve deeper into the insights shared by Laura Cross regarding the successful integration of Exerp at PureGym Switzerland, read the full interview below.
How would you describe the collaboration between Exerp and PureGym?
One of the most important things for a Project Manager role is the relationship with your suppliers. Working with Exerp was seamless. The key thing with Exerp is they understand the fitness business, which, as a Project Manager, makes it very easy when you do have different process or development. They can support because they really understand what the client is asking for.
To get Exerp live for PureGym Switzerland, there was just a one-month pilot and then rollout. How did you ensure a quick turnaround and then a smooth rollout after that?
We had a very short timeline between the pilot and the mass roll out. We were very nervous. We worked with Exerp, the migration team and the consultants, to really understand what the steps were to go live. We had a step-by-step schedule which went very successfully. This enabled us to quickly move on to mass rollout without any changes being needed.
How did Exerp support you in your transition?
Within this project there has been a vast amount of integrations and working with suppliers from different countries and areas of the business. The good thing about Exerp is they are part of the cause. We talked through what we were trying to achieve and they worked with us to find the correct solutions to get us to where we need to be.
How big of an achievement is this for PureGym Switzerland to move over to Exerp?
This is a huge thing for Switzerland. Being on the same applications means they can adopt some of the business process and align some of the areas that they were experiencing issues with due to the limitations of the system that they had in place before.
What are the benefits of moving to Exerp?
The benefits of moving across to Exerp is that we are now on the same membership management software. We’ve reduced the amount of duplications of work, campaign codes etc. We are following the same processes across each of the regions, which will allow Switzerland to grow, advance their member offering and work alongside group functions so that can be delivered quicker.
How are you using the Exerp Mobile Member App?
With the app, you have easy access at hand to PureGym. We use the app for multiple things – class bookings, join journey, managing the member account. Since using the Exerp Mobile Member App, we now have access to new functionality so we are offering more around access control and we can market to our members using the app, which we weren’t able to do previously.
How does the Exerp Mobile Member App compare to your legacy system?
The adoption of the app was low in Switzerland before moving to Exerp, some of the reasons being the smaller number of features due to our legacy system integration. Upgrading to the Exerp Mobile Member App allows us to talk to our members more and using the access control functionality, gave members a reason to download the app. That is now their chosen way of entering the gym.
